In 2014 Rie Kimura (baroque violin) and Pieter-Jan Belder (harpsichord and fortepiano) collaborated for the first time on a recording of Duphly’s works for keyboard. This collaboration resulted in a successful tour through Japan, following which they formed the Duo Belder Kimura. The duo explores the great and vast repertoire for violin and keyboard of the 18th and early 19th century searching for an energetic and intense music-making by focusing on the rhetorical qualities of the music from this era, which was as important in 17th century music as in the music by Mozart and Beethoven.
In 2017 the duo released a recording of the complete C.P.E. Bach works for violin and keyboard on the label Resonus Classics. The Dutch newspaper the Volkskrant considered it one of the 50 best CD productions of 2017 and the recording was highly praised in The Observer (UK).
During the 2018 year the duo will release a CD of Mozart sonatas and will begin recording the violin sonatas of Johann Sebastian Bach.
